Zoo Challenge 2011
March – June 2011

One of our guest speakers last summer described a group she had joined where members regularly completed small quilts with an assigned one-word theme. In that vein, this challenge’s theme is “zoo.”

The other part of this challenge relates to the judging of our recent quilt show. If you had a quilt judged, you may have received a note about something that needs work or could be improved on your quilt. Incorporate that advice into your zoo challenge quilt. Examples might include binding, quilting, color choices, etc. (If you did not have a quilt judged, or if the judge had only compliments for your quilts, you may choose something yourself that you would like to improve, and include that in your zoo challenge quilt.)

The quilt may be any size, and should be completed for showing at the June 14 meeting.

Charity Bee Information..... from funds generated by the ladies of the Wednesday Charity Bee (not from budgeted monies) we wish to open a drawing for a prize of a $35 gift certificate to the local fabric retailer of the winner's choice. A member's name will be entered ONE time with the completion of a Bee kit top, THREE times for a completed quilt (quilted and bound) from a Bee kit, and FIVE times for a completed crib-size quilt of the member's own making (not from a Bee kit). The drawing will be held only after at least 50 names have been added.

Also, ribbons will be presented to members who make quilts....yellow for making a top, red for bringing back a kit and blue for bringing the whole quilt.

If you have ideas for programs for the upcoming year, please contact Ruhanna Neal or Donna Phillips.

We received information from the American Cancer Society that $4,000 was raised from the two quilts that we donated to the Clarke County and Oconee County Relay for Life programs in 2009. Good work ladies!!!
